Katelyn's 6 Month Update

Here are a couple of Katelyn's 6 month pictures! We took her for pictures last Saturday, so I'll share those once we get them back! In case you are wondering what Katelyn is up to, here are some of her highlights:

- She's sleeps really well! (YAY!)

- She weighs 15 lbs (25%-50%) and is 26 inches long (50%)

- She's already been on her first plane ride!

- Her favorite form of communication is a zerbert (sp?) or raspberry...and she greatly appreciates it when you communicate back with her in this form!

- She loves looking and laughing at Avery. I have their car seats next to each other in the back seat, and she loves the "in flight entertainment" every day in the car (I, on the other hand, could do without the constant commentary from the back seat, but that's another post!) :-)

- She loves TV (probably not something I should be proud of though!)

- Katelyn is not sitting up yet unsupported, but she's getting close! She's fine on the couch or with the boppy around her, but unsupported, she face plants into the ground..oops!

- Her hair is just now starting to lay flat! But of course, b/c so much of it stood up, when it lays flat it looks like a combover...so I'm thinking about just styling it into a mohawk!

- Although we're having some breastfeeding issues (she doesn't like to sit or lay still for more than a minute!) she is doing GREAT with eating her cereal and pears!

- She is much more cuddly than Avery was at this point and we're eating it up!

Katelyn Reese is 6 Months!!

Katelyn is 6 months old! I can't believe it! It really seems like we just had her?! But here she is having her first food! Yummy rice cereal! She did great! We started Avery on rice cereal at 4 months, but the Academy of Pediatrics is now recommending waiting until they are 6 months, so we did. One benefit of this, is that they are much more ready to eat from a spoon. Katelyn gobbles up her food! We can't feed her fast enough now, it's hilarious! Easter Eggs and All that Fun Stuff!

So I apologize for the lack in blogging this month. Mr. Sick paid a visit to our house big time! We have been under the weather for the past 9 days. Easter was great...and then the very next day Avery came down with a bad cold and cough. Then Katelyn got it. Then I got it! Then Avery got worse and needed a breathing treatment at Urgent Care...then Steven and I got food posioning!! (or some type of stomach bug) We're still recovering, but everyone is on the mend! Whew...I hope that's all the sickness we have for awhile...I can't take anymore of it!! This was the 1st time I had been sick when the kids had been sick...my oh my....that was the hardest thing I've ever done! Luckily we had a friend come help us yesterday when Steven and I were at our worst! I've been trapped in the house for almost 2 weeks with 2 kids....aaaccckkk!!

On a happier note, we had a great Easter. Avery really got into the egg hunts this year and still ask to do one most days! And we finally have it to where she doesn't have to carry her bunny basket with her all the time! Here a few shots of our Easter activities!

Easter Egg Hunt -- My precious girls!

Our mommies group had their 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt recently. We hire a photographer and all chip in to get some fun, candid shots. Avery is just not into taking pictures, as I'm sure you've seen lately! But that's okay, b/c Katelyn is! So now I'm always getting nice pictures of her and me! I'm sure Avery will one day join back into the picture taking fun (probably about the same time Katelyn decides she doesn't want to cooperate anymore!) And thank you to Katelyn's Godmother Michelle for the awesome personalized dresses! We're getting a lot of use out of them this spring!

Gramma B comes to visit!

We had an awesome time when Steven's mom a.k.a. Gramma B came to visit last week!! Avery is really into egg hunting this year, so she did one with Gramma and ran the entire time! She takes it very seriously!! Then her and Gramma had to sit down together and go through all the loot!

We also took a picnic lunch out to Canyon Lake. It's a huge lake in the mountains about 45 minutes east of us. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun! Gramma B was the only one willing to go in the CHILLY water with Avery! I think they had lots of fun!!

And I should add that we're very lucky that when my mom or Steven's mom comes to visit, we get A LOT of help with housework and with the girls, so we're very grateful!

Phoenix Zoo

Last week before Steven's mom got here, we did a family morning at the zoo. Just had to include a couple pics from the day...most importantly the camel ride that Steven just had to go on (for Avery's sake of course!)
